Based in Cleveland, Ohio, UMC has been a leader in the marine construction industry since its founding in 1981, leveraging over 40 years of experience to provide full-service contracting capabilities. Today, the company carries out its diving operations with multiple crews of efficient and highly skilled personnel. UMC is a longstanding member of the Association of Diving Contractors International (ADCI), and all of our divers are ADCI Certified and continuously trained to the highest standards of safety and performance. What We Do
INDUSTRIAL SERVICES
Over 40 years of experience in public and private industry has given UMC comprehensive experience with industrial equipment and plant operations. Our prompt and cost effective service is one reason plant managers, consulting engineers, municipal officers, federal and state agencies, and construction firms select UMC for their projects.
INSPECTION SERVICES
Inspections represent a significant share of our business. Over the years, Underwater Marine Contractors personnel have completed visual, tactile, photographic, and video documentation of vessels and structures for consulting engineers, federal and state agencies, construction firms, shipping companies, nuclear and fossil fuel plants, sewage treatment facilities, municipal water plants, oil and gas companies, steel mills, and chemical plants.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIRS
Underwater Marine Contractors has extensive experience in the maintenance and repair of intakes and outfalls, traveling water screens, trash racks, pump wells, forebays, cooling towers, water towers, dams, oily waste systems, oxidation tanks, scale pits, thickeners, hot and cold wells, and beyond.
IN-HOUSE DESIGN AND FABRICATION
Underwater Marine Contractors offers in-house design and 3D CAD rendering services that help bring your projects to life. These renderings have proven essential in identifying and eliminating potential problems and complications in the design phase rather than in the field. We can simplify project logistics by handling the construction and fabrication of projects as well.

MARINE CONSTRUCTION
From the pre-construction survey and consulting services to the actual fabrication and build, we provide customers with the services needed to complete their marine construction projects. We been involved in a wide range of different types of construction projects both above and below the waterline including marina maintenance, sheet pile repair, Army Corps of Engineers projects, bulkhead installation, and beyond. We have the equipment and experience to tackle any project.
SEARCH, SALVAGE, AND RECOVERY
We have extensive experience in the search, salvage, and recovery process of vessels, aircraft, lost cargo, tunnel boring machines, and more. From small boat salvage to extensive coordinated search and recovery missions, our inventory of support vessels and equipment can tackle projects of any scope.
UNDERWATER DEMOLITION
Safely demolishing and removing submerged structures presents unique challenges that Underwater Marine Contractors has experience navigating. Whether the job calls for the exothermic cutting of steel, cutting of timbers, removal of concrete, or explosive demolition of structures, you can be sure we have you covered.
